When the Sussexes gave us a glimpse of their home in Montecito, California, during their TV interview with Oprah Winfrey (top), the highlight was Archie’s Chick Inn (inset, above), named after Harry and Meghan’s son – who turned two last week – and home to hens rescued from a factory farm in Los Angeles.

While Meghan, 39, is no stranger to giving needy animals a home – she also has rescue dogs – it’s possible that friend and neighbour Oprah may have inspired her to adopt her feathered friends. The chat-show host, 67, has a chicken coop at her Hawaiian holiday home and has shared a snap of herself holding a basket of fresh eggs, with the caption: “Look what I just gathered. Chickens are workin.”
