BMW has had an RT in its boxer range for over four decades. This has always been the model designed for touring, with the emphasis on covering big miles in great comfort. It’s the one that benefits from the tried and tested engine platform, then gets all the latest innovations and gadgets sprinkled on top.
The RT has always offered a luxury option for touring, and looking at the 2020 model it was difficult to think of much more to add to the package, but for 2021 BMW has upped the game with even more goodies on the RT, as they say: “For even greater riding pleasure and touring enjoyment at the very highest level.” That’s quite a boast, so I was keen to sample some of that pleasure and enjoyment…
How much tech?
This stock model R 1250 RT comes fully loaded with rider aids and comfort features. Then there’s the LE version, the bike we are testing here, which has even more tech and spec.
