Stop the next Windows update ruining your PC

What you need: USB stick; Windows 10

Time required: Around one hour

Some time this spring Microsoft will release the first Windows 10 Feature update of 2021. Known as 21H2, it’s a relatively minor update with fewer new features than normal, but if previous updates are anything to go by it could still cause problems for your PC. In extreme cases, it may even prevent Windows from booting. In this Workshop, we explain the steps you need to take now to avoid difficulties when the 21H2 update arrives.

STEP 1

Press Windows key+E to open File Explorer, click ‘This PC’, then right-click the drive Windows is installed on (usually C:), select Properties and look under ‘Free space’ .
