The plumbing systems for braking and fuel on a Mini have components located around the car, as opposed to the cooling and heating which is confined to the engine area (plus the heater) and is a subject in its own right.

All plumbing needs to be maintained to a high standard but the braking system hydraulics and the fuel system even more so in that they play a big part in the safety of the car. Both systems need overhauling at intervals during the life of a Mini, particularly the braking system. Items such as master cylinders and wheel cylinders need periodic replacement or overhaul and, although the OE steel pipework delivering the brake (and clutch) fluid is generally long-lasting, it does eventually corrode and need replacement.
