Prestwold Hall Estate LEICES TERSHIRE

With its magnificent Grade I-listed country house, Prestwold Hall Estate sits in the heart of the Leicestershire wolds and has been in the Packe family for more than 350 years. Sir Christopher Packe, the first of the family to be resident at the hall, had strong connections to Oliver Cromwell and the former mayor of London was nominated by Cromwell to be one of 60 to create a new senate.

After the Restoration, Sir Christopher’s connection to Cromwell was remembered and he was disqualified from holding public office, retreating to the hall until his death at the age of 87 in 1682.
