1 GIFTS FROM THE WAVES

A beachcombing designer living in Dorset, England, Hannah Marshall collects odds and ends she finds along the coastline and turns them into desirable objects. Most of the materials are gathered from West Country beaches, which she then uses to create driftwood paintings, sea-glass pendants and wall hangings made from hemp combined with fishing nylon. She also presses seaweed by hand, transforming it into surprisingly vibrant botanical prints. “Most people associate seaweeds with brown bladderwrack,” she says, “but when you look closely there are so many beautiful hues, such as olive, beetroot, fuchsia and candy floss”.
