When most people think of hunting dogs, ducks, pheasants, quail, rabbits and squirrels usually come to mind. Not deer. With whitetails, hunters either love or hate the idea of sending dogs into the mix. There’s rarely any middle ground, and the topic often sparks spirited debates.

As such, each year, the Southeast Deer Study Group (https://www.sedsg.com/) assembles some of the top minds of the cervid world, including biologists, researchers and more, to host a multi-day event where they discuss important modern deer hunting topics. This February, deer hunting with dogs appeared on the lengthy agenda.
