SHATTERED DREAMS
I retired early to spend six months of each year cruising Europe’s inland waterways with my partner Katherine. Our boat is in the Netherlands but thanks to Brexit we are now restricted to 90 days in any 180-day period in the EU.
Why are UK citizens restricted to just 90 days, when EU citizens are allowed to spend 180 consecutive days in the UK? How did that happen? Surely, UK citizens should be entitled to an equal reciprocal arrangement? This is grossly unjust and affects thousands of I wholeheartedly sympathise – there seems to be a growing number of calls demanding a reciprocal arrangement. Everyone from touring musicians to second-home owners and an estimated 33,000 British boat owners with craft based overseas are up in arms about it. Rest assured, we will continue to apply pressure to get this sorted.
