2017 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay
argaret River in Western Australia might only contribute three percent of Australia’s annual wine production but it accounts for more than 20 percent of its premium wine. Its family-owned Leeuwin Estate, whose first vintage was in 1979, is nothing if not premium. The so-called Art Series – with specially commissioned artworks reproduced on the labels – is the pinnacle of Leeuwin’s range. Its Chardonnay is arguably the finest in all Australia, wowing critics highest accolade. Benchmark wine to rival any Burgundian Grand Cru, and it will last forever if well cellared. $48,
