IF THE SHOE FITS

La Sportiva Ultra Raptor II Mid wide

La Sportiva is legendary for making great trail runners and hiking boots and here they’ve gone and combined the best of both worlds in this hybrid style. The Ultra Raptor II Mid takes the comfort and performance of one of the best trail running shoes and presents them in a MID! Wider than most of the La Sportiva range, the Ultra Raptor has a roomy toe box and super snug grip around the heel.

La Sportiva has taken the impact brake system from their trail running design and partnered it with what I believe to be the standout feature of this mid – a mix of hard and soft lugs underfoot to grab onto any surface. Innovative tread and lug design is well suited to unstable scrabble terrain with a cat-claw-like rubber sole for excellent grip, and compressed EVA rock guards that provide protection from rock bruising under foot. Light synthetic air mesh outer material allows heat vapour to escape quickly with GTX lining to keep feet dry. Testing these mids in Kaputar NP in outback NSW they performed exceptionally well across a range of loose, steep, rocky terrain, and were grippy and supportive over long distances on those uneven, rocky trails. In alignment with La Sportiva’s flashy Italian style the Ultra Raptor II Mids are fast and flashy in appearance. Overall a high performance well-designed technical lightweight wide fitting mid. Available in mens and womens.
