SOMETIMES IT’S GOOD TO COME INTO A test ‘blind’. I drove the M4 on track for an hour before reading the spec and was surprised that it had 503bhp and weighed 1725kg; I thought it was lighter and less powerful. There’s a degree of cancelling-out there, but it’s impressive that the M4 feels light in the corners where weight usually dulls response and agility. This is on the standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres; with the temperature struggling to rise above 5deg C, we’ve decided to save the optional Cup 2s until later in the day.
