In September 2020, Tod’s hosted the house party of our high-fashion dreams. A posse of models gathered inside Villa Necchi Campiglio – a modernist Milanese mansion designed by Piero Portaluppi – dressed in a rainbow of marigold, emerald and lilac, while Norwegian-American singer Okay Kaya crooned smooth, soft melodies.

Most of us watched on, which replaced the Italian house’s spring/summer 2021 runway show amid the global pandemic. But a far cry from your typical Zoom call, the lush visual spectacle epitomised creativity in crisis. “As soon as I conceived this collection, the film was already written,” explains creative director Walter Chiapponi. “It was already in my mind.”
