GOLDI 2
A TRIBUTE ORIGINAL TO 1967 BRUCE BAJA MEYERS RACER ’
The year was 1967. The Beatles released Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Elvis married Priscilla, Volkswagen upgraded 12-volt systems to its U.S. lineup and it was the last year of the Split Window Bus. By the same year in April, Bruce Meyers sets a record of 34 hours 45 minutes beating the motorcycles record by over 5 hours running the length of the Baja peninsula in his first Manx, “Old Red.”
Bruce’s business was booming and the popularity of the Meyers Manx was soaring. His personal Manx was a gorgeous gold metalflake, early pan, square-tail Manx affectionately named Goldie. It was his test bed for different accessories, along with being the mule for giving potential customers rides. Goldie also became the darling of the magazine world, appearing on the cover of many magazines including the very first issue of Dune Buggies and hotVWs.
Fast forward to October 1967.
