Was your Surface Laptop Go pricing wrong?

Q I’m fascinated by quoted prices for the new Surface Laptop Go models in the News pages of Issue 591. The version with 8GB of memory and 128GB storage is £699, and yet the same thing but with 256GB storage is £899. The difference in price between what I presume are NVMe M.2 SSDs must be tiny. Am I mistaken?

Francis Norton

You’re not mistaken, and nor were we: the 256GB model really is £200, pictured below) is just £39 – and that’s at retail prices. Clearly, a tech giant like Microsoft will not be paying retail prices.
