Revill with a cause

Lucy Revill admits there was an element of self-interest in launching a blog profiling intriguing and gutsy Wellingtonians. In her mid-twenties and a lawyer at the time, she was keen to connect with go-getters who had helped create the city she had grown up in and come to love.

“I wanted to meet people who had a gutsiness I didn’t have at the time. I wanted to know about their approach and attitude to life, and to learn from them,’’ she smiles.

“I had moved back from Auckland and I saw the spirit of Wellingtonians, which is to be a bit wild, messy and creative. Wellington is a city that lets you do it. It’s a city which is very unique. It’s small but the people who live here are interesting.’’

Lucy, now 31, had graduated as a lawyer and was working as a policy advisor for a government agency when she kicked off her blog, The Residents, five years ago with a profile
