AUTOMONOUS SHIPPING IS THE FUTURE HERE NOW?

Although delayed by the pandemic, Norwegian shipbuilder Vard has delivered the battery-powered container vessel Yara Birkeland to Yara International, with the expectation that the zero emissions ship will begin sailing commercially towards the end of 2021, eventually entering autonomous operation.

The 79.5m by 18.8m vessel will first undergo testing for container loading and stability before heading to a set-aside area in Horten on the Oslofjord
