THE MOOSE OF ORROROO

HE LITTLE TOWN OF Orroroo lies about 280km north of Adelaide. Most locals would consider it to be merely in “the bush”, not the desert or even the outback. But for me, raised amid the lakes and forests of the Canadian Shield, the place definitely has the feel of a desert outpost. Dry soil the colour of rust bakes under an endless blue sky, while kangaroos and emus race alongside the highway, threatening to dart at any moment into the path
