On 1 January, the agreement establishing the African Continental Free-Trade Area (AfCFTA) officially entered into operation, and as a signatory to the agreement, South Africa’s Deputy Minister of Finance, David Masondo, published the text of the agreement and made changes to the schedules and rules of the Customs and Excise Act to cater for the AfCFTA entering into force.
