Consumers to pay more for electricity

SOUTH Africans will need to have more money for their utility bills as an electricity tariff hike of up to 10.95% could become effective in April.

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) has said it would allow Eskom to recover an extra R6 billion of allowable revenue from consumers.

Nersa’s decision was based on Eskom’s multiyear price determination regulatory clearing account (RCA) applications
