The low speed exciter coil of the ignition system can fail, leading to profound starting issues.

FRAME

Check for cracking below the headstock. It’s not uncommon, but can be readily repaired via some strategic welding and additional reinforcing gusseting.

It’s not unknown for the head to crack between the valve seats and the spark plugs.

CLUTCH ACTUATION
