Despite the increasingly incredible claims from the doomsayers, the millennium didn’t commence with the Y2K bug causing the failure of everything with a digital date display.
That said, the new decade was one of accelerated change on the technology front, with plenty of great new gadgets, gizmos and games for us to spend our expanding disposable income on – until some of the banks were found to have foundations of straw.
The ensuing economic crises caused massive unemployment and a deep recession, which commenced in 2007 but was still being felt two years later.
