Mk1 rodchange

I have a 1966 Morris Mini and intend to fit a 1275 A-series engine out of a 1990 carburett or Cooper. I know I will need to cut a hole in the floor to accommodate the gear lever and I will need to adapt the rear mounts for the rod-change. The Mk1 shell has a lower transmission tunnel than the rod-change Minis so will the rod-change run too close to the ground, especially as my Mini is to be converted to dry suspension and lowered? Would I be better offcutting out the original tunnel and welding in one from a later Mini? Liam Carter
