Sitting at home during the lockdown, it was an unpleasant reminder of an even darker time in my life. Six years earlier, I’d gone from a busy full-time job as a medical secretary, and priding myself on being a devoted wife and mother, to being confined to my home, losing my independence and suddenly relying on my husband, Andrew, then 50, and daughter, Elena, then 18, when I’d spent decades looking after them.
