IT SURVIVES!
In the August issue, the article on Henley Transport included a photograph of a 1972 long wheelbase Atkinson eight-wheeler (MLL 570L) acquired for transporting precious concrete sections. This lorry went on to have a long life as after its transport days. It moved on to the fairgrounds carrying a twist ride. It eventually ended up with Henry Hill senior (big Henry) and the photograph taken in 2007 shows it in this form. It would eventually be retired in 2008 when the Hill family acquired a more modern twist ride.
It was still in existence three years ago as a chassis cab.

Thanks for that – for the benefit of anyone who didn’t see the August issue, MLL 570L was, at the time of manufacture, the longest rigid Atkinson built. According to the DVLA website, MLL 570L is still listed, though everything there predates three years ago – the last tax disc was issued in 2008 and the last V5C in 2009. Obviously, we’d be interested in any information concerning its current whereabouts.
