The legendary country singer had a career lasting more than 60 years and a string of hits including Lucille, Coward of the County and The Gambler. He was aware people thought he and Dolly Parton were having an affair thanks to their hugely popular song Islands in the Stream and says they played that up by “flirting with each other for 30 years”. He died in March, aged 81, of natural causes.
