Talk about missing the boat: In the early 1960s, American Motors had at least three chances to add a line of trucks to its product offerings. The move would have greatly strengthened its dealer network while providing a significant increase in corporate sales and profits. However, in all three instances AMC’s management decided against taking the chance. Too bad.
