Nikon Z 6II
£1999/$1997 (body only)
The second incarnation of the Z 6 full-frame mirrorless has dual slots, dual processors and plenty of improvements under the hood…
The Z 6II replaces the two-year-old Z 6 as Nikon’s ‘enthusiast’ level full-frame mirrorless camera. With a 24Mp sensor, it hits the sweet spot between resolution and processing power, and for many users is the better option compared to the ‘pro’ level Z 7II, which comes with approximately double the megapixel count.
The original Z 6 ticked most of the right boxes, so what we see here is a refinement, rather than anything radically new, with incremental improvements to speed and functionality, complete with Nikon listening to user feedback and addressing complaints levelled against the Mark I version of the camera.
Externally, there’s very little difference between this new camera and its predecessor. The only giveaways are the ‘II’ nomenclature next to the Z 6 logo, and a marginally deeper battery door. It’s a couple of millimetres deeper, at 134x101x70mm compared to 134x101x68mm, and weighs in at 20 grammes heavier at 705g, rather than 675g. And this is due to some key differences on the inside…
