PEACE AND APPIN-ESS
Scotland is full of surprises. Aside from the well-known tourist attractions and busy hubs, it is sprinkled with lots of lovely places that you’ll only find if you know where to look, or if you’re very lucky and you stumble upon them.
Port Appin is one of those places. A charming, peaceful little settlement on the joint of a finger that points out towards the Isle of Lismore in Loch Linnhe on the Appin peninsula, it lies about halfway between Glencoe and Oban, on Argyll’s indented coastline.
If you’re of Campbell or Stewart descent then you may have heard of it, if only because of the castle that stands on a little island just a couple of miles from the port.
Castle Stalker, one of Scotland’s most romantic castles, can be found just north of Appin, and is often, but its real story has few punchlines.
