Naughty Hens

Many people have just taken on their very first fowls and can anticipate fun times ahead. Chooks, however, are notorious for not having read the same management books we all have so don’t always play by the rules. They may refuse or waste food, bully, feather peck, sleep in nests or take to the trees at night. Solving the miscellany of antisocial behaviours can take time, but is a little easier if you understand what may have caused a particular problem.

It’s exasperating when fowls won’t perch and choose instead to sleep in nest boxes or on the floor. They’re not being naughty, they’re probably unfamiliar with estimating the distance they need to fly to perch
