LATERAL WORK IS great for promoting suppleness and elasticity, and it’s one of the key training exercises I use with all my showjumpers. The cornerstone of lateral work is leg-yield. Apart from achieving greater athleticism, leg-yield allows you to ride deeper into your corners while schooling, make more use of the arena when jumping, and it helps your horse to develop a straighter jumping technique.
In fact, all variations of leg-yield assist when it comes to keeping your horse on any given line or even keeping him straight on the approach
