WHEN COVID-19 BROUGHT life as we know it to an abrupt halt earlier this year, and all competition plans and goals disappeared overnight, virtual competing came into its own. While the idea that you can video yourself riding a dressage test or presenting your horse to a showing judge at home in your own arena is not new, it became a lifeline for riders suddenly finding themselves without something to aim for. Virtual competitions aren’t just for lockdowns and Covid restrictions, though. They take place all year, every year.
