Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I took a deep breath and smiled.

You can do this,’ I said to myself, after finally settling on an outfit.

It was November 2000, and I was getting ready to go on my first blind date.

I knew nothing about the man I was meeting, other than his name – Neil.

After running a brush through my hair one last time, I headed out the door and walked to my local pub in Bardwell, Suffolk, before settling at the bar.

As corny as it sounds, the moment I saw him walk through the door, I knew it was true love.
