What’s the difference between a hoarder and a collector? Andy Warhol was definitely one or the other. After he died in 1987, 313 watches were found in his Upper East Side townhouse in New ’80s and the rise of cheaper, more accurate quartz movements during the previous decade had taken the shine off unreliable mechanical watches. They were not the big-ticket items of today.
