‘We gave up our lives for the Struggle, our country owes us’

THEY left their homes at a young age to fight for freedom but they now felt “left out in the cold” while the country reaped the benefits of democracy.

These were the sentiments expressed by members of the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) who were at loggerheads with the government over compensation for their sacrifices.
