Cow boy country
When tourists think of Australia they typically conjure up two images: The first would be of the Great Barrier Reef teeming with marine life, the second would be of our infamous outback with its dangerous animals, red soil and incredibly tough hot, sweaty and dirty conditions.
Films like Baz Luhrmann’s Australia represent Oz as this harsh, wild, almost uninhabitable country, which, if you live somewhere like precious Sydney, actually isn’t the case. But, there are a handful of Aussies that do live like that, enduring sweltering conditions while going about their normal lives. They typically live in the north of this wide brown land and, more specifically, a very large patch we call the Northern Territory.
