The incredible HULK
I met Ben through the motocross coaching schools that I run around the Newcastle region. He showed up fresh out of the gym supporting two biceps shaped like over-inflated footballs on a KX250 two-stroke that he’d had tuned by a reputable performance shop to pro supercross spec.
He was introduced as Hulk and his first words to me were “I’m here to learn how to ride motocross”. I took one look at his bike and thought this guy must go alright so I sent them all out on the track just to warm up.
One lap in and I hear a flat-revving stroker mid-air, followed by a ground-shattering thump. I turn around, thinking a meteor has just hit Earth, and am confronted by a man on the ground making noises like a dog trying to throw up its breakfast.
