‘What’s that bike?’ my mate Rick from Pommieland asked me.
‘That’s a Suzuki TC100,’ I said. Rick and his wife Chrissy had dropped in to my place in Australia. It didn’t take long to migrate to the shed to talk bikes.
‘What’s that lever on the side of the engine?’ he asked.
‘High and low range, I replied.
‘What! Are you serious?!’
After clearing a minor fuel blockage caused by gummed-up fuel, Rick was off into the paddock (Oz speak for 50 acres...) on the TC100. He returned with a huge grin on his face. That TC100 was given to me by a great mate, Keith, a native of Suffolk who now resides there after stints in Australia and New Zealand. We share a mutual passion for motorcycles. The Suzuki sat in the shed for a few years and I noticed that the swinging arm was starting to rust a bit more than I would like. My son Joel and I started a ‘renovation’ as opposed to a full restoration. We had the frame blasted and painted, new rings and tyres and a few other items fitted. The tank and side covers were repainted in the silver scheme used by the TC185 which was the colour Joel wanted. He helped so much in the refurbishment that I was more than happy for him to pick the colour. He can ride a motorcycle and enjoys being in the shed.
