CAFFEINE HIT

In South America there’s a drink that has the same sort of standing that coffee has in other countries: yerba mate.

As with tea and herbal tisanes, it’s made by steeping dried leaves of a plant, in this case Ilex paraguariensis, an evergreen tree that thrives in the subtropical rainforest regions of South America. Like coffee and tea, mate is a popular morning drink due to its caffeine content.
