our re-booted series makes an interesting point in terms of the price of old equipment. The price of a simple flash in 1955, for example, equated to £203 in today’s money (based upon your 50:1 inflation ratio) and this has prompted me to wonder about the prices of more high-end equipment compared with today. It appears that the current average salary in the UK is £29,600, which after tax and NI would leave the recipient with about £1,900 per month.
