RCl 99 has arrived, and what a lot we got for our subscription. You really provide so much reading pleasure, facts and figures and history. Ollie's ride on that Buell Ulysses caused him to ponder the chosen model name. The history of the US gives a clue. During their Civil War there was a general named Ulysses Grant who did well for his side. He may have been good at moving his troops cross-country, which is to say off-road.
Jonathan Lambley wrote of owning and riding a Vincent - very interesting. I smiled at his comment 'If you really want something then you can have it:Very true when applied to motorcycles and ownership in western Europe. His quoted prices for potential purchases were a bit eye-watering: £20,000 for a 500cc single! He suggested that a Comet 500 was certainly within reach of the average motorcyclist. Horses for courses ...
Would it possible for RC to produce a detailed history of what happened to Vincent on the run up to 1956, the year Jonathan reported that Vincent sank? And that happened despite their having had a go at producing military drones, lawn mowers and water scooters. Were they not also involved
