TOP TUKE HUT

The Tuke is the main tributary of the Mikonui River and is in fact the bigger of the two streams. There are three major gorges with resident waterfalls that bar any kind of river access and all routes in into the upper basin where the hut is require tops crossings.

Top Tuke is located just above the scrubline at 1000m, a rugged and beautiful spot with big mountains encircling it. Names like Beaumont, The Tusk and Sawtooth Ridge aptly describe these features.
