PROTAPER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

WHEN WE PICKED up the 1998 Suzuki RMX250 for a full rebuild we did what every rider does and squeezed the clutch. The feeling was horrible. Stiff and rusty. The clutch would still engage but it was sticking and gave you horrible arm pump.

Fortunately for us, ProTaper is in the business of making clutch assemblies from the lever to the perch, so we ordered an XPS Profile Pro model from Serco. It arrived within days and was a piece of piss to fit (one benefit of a cable clutch).

It uses a cross-pivot system which allows the XPS lever to pivot in multiple directions but maintain a low-profile blade. The assembly offers two reach adjustment points so
