Educator Fred

As a teacher and so-called bikie, O’Leary’s Fred the Bikie cartoon (AMCN Vol 70 No 06) has served me well over the years. I had a laminated copy on display in my classroom, along with a full set of leathers cut off by the ambos after my son’s whoopsie at Broadford. This was spreadeagled on the wall, along with a wrecked Suzuki TL1000 rim and other mementos from his high side – lucky it was an all-boys school! It proved to be a talking point on open days, too.

Now it’s time to revisit my copy of Fireside Tales of Uncle Fred in retirement, or take one of the three bikes in the garage for a ride (two of them are on club rego).

One hell of a talking point! We are amazed by how often we need to censor Gassit for certain issues. They ran as-is not that many years ago. It’s a measure of how things have changed. Glad you still get something out of them, Michael. And yeah, get out and ride ’em!
