2020 Makena Landing Kayak Fishing Tournament

The Makena Landing Kayak Fishing Tournament faced a lot of hurdles this year, but the weather was not one of them. It got a little dicey in the early hours on Sunday out by Molokini, but overall the waves and wind cooperated quite nicely. This year the event saw the most contestants ever and five times the amount of keiki (a total of 23). The keiki were also the top contenders to beat in all but one division. In the past, this event saw two women at most, but this year eight wahine entered. We hope to triple that number next year. The keiki wahine led the charge this year, giving all women the confidence they need to give it a go next year. 90 percent of our past contestants entered again. This year there was also a 40 percent increase in newcomers.
