West African Monetary Union Proposal Fizzles
There have been monetary unions ever since there has been coinage. Some of these unions were successful and lasted hundreds of years. Others have fizzled and quickly disappeared. The European Union’s monetary union is the highest profile such union today, but it is far from being the only monetary union now in use.
