Visually, the big and beefy Indian looks far more intimidating than the lean and lithe Italian, or even the brawny Bavarian, and its physical size backs up the looks, feeling like a much larger bike than either of its contenders.

I mentioned that the Ducati has virtually perfect fuelling, and the Indian brings a reminder that fuel injection hasn’t always been quite so precise, as it is glitchy and reminiscent of fuel injection systems fitted 15 years ago. This can, apparently, be easily cured by removing the catalytic converter, fitting free-flowing exhaust cans and re-mapping the fuel injection using suitable aftermarket hardware
