STEVE MORSE Stomping At The Pier

This month we are looking at Steve Morse’s performance over Jason Sidwell’s rocker Stomping At The Pier. As Steve explains in the video, the main rhythmic feel of triplets (notated as 12/8) is very natural to him. To add a bit of sophistication and to set the scene Steve plays along with the unison riffs that are part of the backing track arrangement. This establishes the track well and helps give the start of the solo more impact. The second repeat of the riff starts halfway through the bar, but resolves back to fit in with the time signature so no odd time bars are needed.
