“What’s the best way to shoot with flash in low light, and avoid camera shake?”
Penny Lloyd, Narborough
BRIAN SAYS… If you are getting camera shake with flash in low light, you may be using Shutter Priority (Tv) or Manual. Shutter speed is key to avoiding camera shake and blurred subjects when taking shots with flash in low light. People rarely stay still for a photo, so you should keep the shutter speed to at least 1/60 sec even with flash. Using Tv or Manual that is in your control. But older cameras set to Av will set any shutter speed down to 30 secs to try and balance the ambient light and flash.
A good way to work in low light is to use Manual, take a shot with a shutter speed of 1/60 sec, your aperture of choice, ISO400 and the flash off. Check the shot, if needed increase the ISO
