Ride The Wave

I recently met Bill in a large boating/fishing retail store where he was looking to buy a decent sized chiller bag to carry on a PWC while fishing. This piqued my interest and we struck up a conversation. Bill (surname withheld on request) told me he regularly heads offshore to fish for kingfish from his waterside home in southern Sydney aboard, of all things, a Yamaha Waverunner. He mostly chases kings over reef and near washes where these tackle busters hang out in the warmer months.

Via Bill’s phone I saw photos of his impressive looking pride and joy, so floated the idea of a story about it for Fisho – Bill happily agreed. A week later we’d planned to meet at a boat ramp on Bill’s local waterway of Port Hacking.
