With the onset of winter here in west Dorset, I thrill at the first crisp frosts in all their sparkling glory. But as November wears on, the days are more often damp than frozen. I have learned to love the early winter softness of these damp days, as the leaves fall from the mature beech, oaks and limes and the low light filters through their majestic outlines.
